National Certificate in Cybersecurity

The Certificate in Cybersecurity at Kaliotte Institute is designed to provide students with the necessary skills to protect information systems and digital infrastructure from cyberattacks and threats. The course covers key areas such as network security, ethical hacking, encryption techniques, incident response, and risk management. Students will also learn how to secure applications and systems, analyze security vulnerabilities, and mitigate risks. Upon completion, students will be equipped to work as cybersecurity professionals in various industries.

What You Will Learn

  • Introduction to Cybersecurity: Understand the core principles of cybersecurity, its importance, and its role in protecting digital assets.
  • Network Security: Learn how to protect networks from intrusions, attacks, and vulnerabilities, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems (IDS).
  • Ethical Hacking: Learn the techniques and tools used by ethical hackers to identify vulnerabilities in systems, including penetration testing and security auditing.
  • Cryptography: Understand encryption, decryption, hashing, and digital signatures to secure data in transit and at rest.
  • Application Security: Learn how to secure software applications, including secure coding practices, vulnerability scanning, and patch management.
  • Incident Response: Learn how to effectively respond to cybersecurity incidents, including identifying and mitigating threats, managing data breaches, and performing forensic analysis.
  • Risk Management: Understand how to assess and manage cybersecurity risks, develop security policies, and create disaster recovery plans.
  • Security Operations: Gain practical knowledge of security monitoring, incident detection, and security operations centers (SOC).
  • Cybersecurity Laws and Ethics: Learn about legal, ethical, and regulatory issues surrounding cybersecurity, including data privacy laws, compliance, and ethical hacking practices.
  • Security Tools and Techniques: Get hands-on experience with industry-standard cybersecurity tools such as Nmap, Wireshark, Metasploit, and others.

Technologies and Tools Covered

Students will use the following tools and technologies in the course:

  • Wireshark (network protocol analyzer)
  • Metasploit (penetration testing framework)
  • Burp Suite (web vulnerability scanner)
  • Nmap (network scanner)
  • OpenSSL (cryptographic software library)
  • Firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS systems
  • Virtualization tools (VMware, VirtualBox)
  • Kali Linux (for penetration testing and ethical hacking)

Requirements for Admission

  • At least O-Level completion or its equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of computer systems and networks.
  • A laptop or desktop with internet access is required.
  • An interest in security, problem-solving, and a willingness to learn ethical hacking techniques.
